"At the Last Supper, on the night he was betrayed, our Savior instituted the Eucharistic sacrifice of his Body and Blood. This he did in order to perpetuate the sacrifice of the cross throughout the ages until he should come again, and so to entrust to his beloved Spouse, the Church, a memorial of his death and resurrection: a sacrament of love, a sign of unity, a bond of charity, a Paschal banquet ‘in which Christ is consumed, the mind is filled with grace, and a pledge of future glory is given to us.’”
Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion
Catechists assist parents in preparing their children for the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. These are generally celebrated in the 2nd grade however students are accepted at any grade/age. Two consecutive years of religious education are required as part of our Sacramental Preparation program. The final year of preparation must be done on-site.
Parents will be required to attend a Sacramental Information Meeting. Children and parents are required to attend a retreat before each Sacrament.
Students will also attend a First Communion rehearsal the week before they receive their First Communion. First Communion celebrations are followed by a reception for families and friends.
