Adult Faith Formation - Current & Upcoming Classes, Activities & Events
Why participate in Adult Faith Formation?
It has been the constant teaching of the church that to cultivate a relationship with God and grow in the life of grace, in addition to our sacramental life, we should continually engage in three interrelated spiritual practices: prayer, study and action. These three practices have been compared to a tripod or a 3-legged stool. Without all three legs the stool could not stand securely. It is the same with our life of faith, all three are equally important.
In prayer (piety) we speak to God and do our best to hear him speak to us. But, in order to hear his voice clearly it helps to know how to discern his voice from all the other voices that compete for our attention. By studying our Catholic Faith we give our minds to God as we make an intentional effort to come to know him through a deeper understanding of Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, which are his self-revelation to us. The Holy Spirit is right there with us. As we study He pours his life and his love and his truth into our minds and hearts and transforms them. This is a deeply moving experience! Study combined with prayer prepare us for action in the world that is fruitful because it is done with God’s wisdom and power. Who doesn’t need that?
In adult faith formation we offer classes, retreats & events that focus on prayer, study & action, but we specialize in the area of the 2nd leg of the tripod – STUDY.

Adult Faith Formation: Building on the Rock - Luke 6:47-49
Every one who comes to me and hears my words and does them, I will show you what he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep, and laid the foundation upon rock; and when a flood arose, the stream broke against that house, and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But he who hears and does not do them is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation; against which the stream broke, and immediately it fell, and the ruin of that house was great.”
